Virginia Hodgkinson's "Big Issue" Portraits / by patrick rodriguez

Last week I got to photograph at Palmer Hall in the State Library Victoria, an exhibition of paintings by Melbourne based artist Virginia Hodgkinson In celebration of The Big Issue’s 20th anniversary. For this show  she created  an exceptionally moving  series of portraits of local vendors, inspired by their personal histories.

This exhibition features  17 portraits of vendors accompanied by their personal statements, allowing the viewer to discover the stories behind the faces of Melbourne’s Big Issue magazine vendors.
